About Us
Who We Are
Arbor Biofuels Company LLC, is an Ann Arbor based
start-up company. We manufacture methyl ester
(biodiesel) from the collected vegetable oil waste of
our area. We also specialize in the fabrication
Biodiesel Purification equipment, particularly in the
area of ion exchange columns or dry wash towers.
The Business
To do this we have adopted the strongest model for long-term success. We are committed
to producing the highest quality fuel by utilizing cutting edge technologies in the
manufacturing of Biodiesel. Much of the methods being used today, by the large producers,
do little to improve on a process invented over 50 years ago during World War II. Our facility
is specially designed to meet the needs of small scale production in order to remain flexible
and easily altered with emerging technologies – which are already on the horizon.
A community the size of the Greater Detroit Metro area has a population of approximately 5
million and the national average for vegetable oil and animal fat usage is around 3 gallons
per person. Therefore after accounting for the portion actually consumed, our region has
between 6 and 8 million gallons of waste oils and fats available for biodiesel conversion.
The large scale producers popping up all over the country have business models based on
10 to 100 million gallons per year. This model relies almost entirely on virgin (unused),
refined vegetable oils (expensive) and a significant governmental tax credit of $1.00 per
gallon. They are hoping to pay back their huge initial investments during this “safety”
period.
(Our Commitment)
We are the possibility of being passionately alive, sufficient in the
enterprise of delivering a World that Works:
- Where new realms of business and industry begin to transform
the Technological and the Biological waste streams -- Creating
waste as nutrient
- Where People, Ecology, Economies, Industry and Progress exist
in concert.
- Where businesses recognize and incorporate the
comprehensive cost of production for the purposes of maximizing
immediate profitability, short-term sustainability and long-term
regeneration.

Arbor Biofuels Company
Our greatest competitive advantage is that we are not strongly roped to
either vegetable oil or petroleum oil prices and our low initial investment
does not make future technological advancements prohibitively
expensive or dependent on a preferential tax subsidy!
So what about Ann Arbor?
The larger Ann Arbor Area has approx. 250,000 people and so, it has an estimated 375,000 gallons of oils/fats (annually) available for transesterification.

ABC is NO longer selling these
units at this time.
We apologize to those who
have expressed interest
however it would be impossible
right now to deliver them in a
reasonable amount of time.
Our ion exchange columns
come complete with an
exclusive macroporous resin
which out performs current
gel-resins for waterless
biodiesel purification; can be
constructed and sold
separately.
